A Time of Reflection and Change
Calvary greetings in the Name of Our Savior Jesus Christ,
Lent is not just a season of fasting and sacrifice, but a sacred opportunity for deep self-examination. It is a time to pause and reflect on the state of our hearts, the intentions behind our actions, and the thoughts that we allow to guide our daily lives. As we enter into this Lenten journey, we are invited to ask ourselves a crucial question: “Where is God calling me to change?”
This question is not meant to induce guilt or shame but to open the door for transformation. God, in His love and grace, desires that we grow closer to Him and more fully embody His love and truth in the world. Lent offers us a space to confront the areas in our lives where we may have strayed from His path—CCC Hymn 541 I have gone astray because of sins-whether it’s in our relationships, our priorities, or our inner thoughts and attitudes.
It’s easy to focus on external behaviors during this season, but true change begins with the heart. Are there areas of unforgiveness that God is asking us to release? Are there habits or mindsets that have become stumbling blocks to spiritual growth? Perhaps there are old wounds or resentments that need healing. The invitation of Lent is to face these questions honestly and allow God’s transformative power to work within us.
We go through a process of Arrest, Trial and Conviction before confession is made. Most of the time we confess Psalms -as we do in our services-instead of confessing our sins-1 John 1:9. We will look deeply on this in next article.
On this second day of Lent, take a moment to reflect on where God might be calling you to change. Invite Him into those areas, trusting that He is faithful to complete the good work He begins in you. May this journey lead you to a deeper understanding of His love and a more profound commitment to living in accordance with His will. AMEN
