Calvary Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,

A Milestone in Our Journey

Grace, mercy, and peace to each of you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today marks a significant milestone—the completion of my first year of stewardship as your Shepherd. It has been a year filled with profound learning, deep challenges, meaningful victories, and immense growth for all of us. Reflecting on this journey together, I want to take a moment to share my heart, the lessons we’ve learned, the trials we’ve faced, how God enabled us to overcome, and our vision moving forward.

Embracing Responsibility with Humility

When I first stepped into this church on Sunday, March 24, 2024,Palm Sunday, at exactly 11.25 am I was given this role. I embraced it with humility and excitement, fully aware that serving God and His people is both a profound privilege and a considerable responsibility. As we began this journey, we encountered challenges typical of any church striving toward deeper spiritual maturity and practical effectiveness. Among these were financial constraints, relational hurdles, and internal organizational adjustments. Each challenge brought moments of testing, yet each also presented unique opportunities for God’s grace to be manifest.

Before I moved forward on what we faced and how we triumph over them, I want to honor my people for their cooperation.

I want to start from Sup Ev. Kenny Adedoyin, the Leader in Charge before i stepped in. When He was approached of my coming as a shepherd in charge, he embrace it in good faith and talked to all members why its necessary for the church to have a shepherd. Just like John the Baptist my acceptance by the members was Alagba Kenny’s handiwork. He was faced with oppositions and continue to face the same till date. My prayer to you is that what God use your hand to build will not be demolished in Jesus Name- Watch and pray!

Alagba Tony Falana, the eldest in the church amidst yes and no, he gave his consent for trial-thanks for the opportunity. I want to also say thank you to all the parochial committee- Alagba Chidi the chairman, Alagba Femi Mati the church sec and other members.

Financial Stewardship: Overcoming Constraints

Financial stewardship posed one of the earliest and most daunting challenges. I want to thanks Alagba Chidi the chairman, his family, the Sec and everyone for standing in gap during Baba sickness and transition.

We have expenses that threatened our church vitality and demoralized members. However, through collective prayer, transparency, prudent budgeting, and most importantly, the incredible generosity of you, our congregation, we began to stabilize financially. Your faithful giving—despite personal economic challenges—demonstrated extraordinary commitment, and God honored your stewardship.

Through disciplined management and sacrificial generosity, we have seen significant improvement in our financial health.

In June 2024, we started with zero in our account. Our proceed from Juvenile harvest though little became our seed in opening a new account and adult harvest proceed too were all used to settle bills.

In August a family came up with building project with a lump sum which was supported by all members. Building Committee was inaugurated. All glory be to God.

Transparency is the key to our success till date. From June 2024 till date we have cleared all our debts. We own know one anything but love. We are standing tall financially all glory be to God and your generosity in giving..

I pray that according to 2 Cor 9:8 that God will make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, will abound to every good work in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.

Relational Growth: Building Unity and Trust

Relationally, as with any family, we encountered moments of tension and misunderstanding. Transitions often bring uncertainties and fears, making relational unity more challenging. Yet, in these moments, we saw the beautiful power of reconciliation, dialogue, and forgiveness.

Intentional efforts to foster open communication and regular counseling sessions have strengthened bonds within our church family.

Through Christ’s model of love and patience, we’ve grown closer, more supportive, and increasingly compassionate toward one another.

Organizational Development: Strengthening Internal Structures

Internally, organizational adjustments presented their own set of challenges. New leadership roles, administrative realignments, and changes in structures inevitably caused periods of setbacks. Adaptation to changes always take time but it can be done.

We are not there yet, but through deliberate training, clear communication, and a unified vision, we will grow stronger and more cohesive, smoother in our operations and become better stewards of resources that God committed to our hands.

Spiritual Commitment: Guided by Prayer

Most importantly, throughout every trial and victory, we have relied deeply on prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Each challenge we faced was met first and foremost with a commitment to spiritual discernment. We committed ourselves to seek God’s wisdom and direction. The results have been evident, with breakthroughs and divine provision consistently marking our path forward.

Vision for the Future: Deepening Our Impact

As we look to the future, our vision remains clear and compelling. We aim to deepen our commitment to the spiritual growth of each member through robust Bible teaching, small groups, and mentorship programs. We also envision expanding our community impact through targeted outreach initiatives that address practical needs, spreading the gospel through acts of compassion and service.

Furthermore, we will continue to nurture the next generation by strengthening our children and youth ministries, providing them with solid biblical foundations and cultivating their leadership potential. Our commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence will remain steadfast, ensuring continued trust and effectiveness.

Authority and Responsibility

To quote my Regional, Baba Badmus, authority can be shared or delegated but responsibilities can not. The first delegated authority started in Act 6 but the responsibilities still lie on the Apostle.

The Parish is 501c3 organization, inline with this we can not joke with transparency. Our money when its in our pocket remain 100% our own, but as soon as we give it to the church it becomes public money which we can not just use it anyhow or have power over.

As the chief account officer of the church, all money after thorough deliberation by the committee involved need the shepherd final approval.

According to my letter of transfer to this parish, item no 4 says and I quote “You are to remain one of the main signatories to the church bank and all its financial documents and obligations”

As my HOD Baba Olorunsola used to says “I dont want to run prison ministries”

All eyes are on us. We are not just in this wall but we are global now. We can’t afford to fail and we will not fail in Jesus Name

Conclusion: United in Christ

Beloved, the journey ahead is promising, not because we won’t face further challenges, but because we serve a God who faithfully leads us through every obstacle toward His glorious purposes. Thank you for standing together through this remarkable first year. Let us remain united, prayerful, and passionate about the work ahead, knowing that He who began a good work in us will surely bring it to completion.

In humble service and steadfast hope,

Michael Sanmi Dawodu
