Becoming a Christian is not merely joining a church, adopting a label, or trying to become a better person. Christianity begins with God’s good news about Jesus Christ and a personal response of repentance and faith.
Understand the Gospel
God is holy and created us for Himself. Humanity has sinned (Romans 3:23). The consequence of sin is death, but God offers eternal life in Christ (Romans 6:23). Jesus died and rose again so sinners can be reconciled to God.
Repent
Repentance is a genuine turning of heart and direction. Acts 3:19 calls people to repent and turn to God. It includes acknowledging sin rather than excusing it.
Believe in Jesus Christ
Acts 16:31 says, “Believe in the Lord Jesus.” Biblical faith is reliance on Christ, not merely agreeing that facts about Him are true.
Confess Christ and Begin Following Him
Romans 10:9–10 connects faith in the risen Christ with confessing Him as Lord. Jesus then calls His followers into discipleship—a lifelong pattern of learning, obedience, prayer, fellowship, service, and witness.
Join a Faithful Church
Christianity is not designed as an isolated life. Seek a church where Scripture is taught, Christ is honored, prayer is practiced, and believers encourage one another.
