Worship is more than music or a church service. In Scripture, worship is the response of the whole person to who God is and what He has done. It includes praise and singing, but also reverence, obedience, gratitude, generosity, prayer, and daily surrender.
Worship God Alone
Jesus quotes Scripture in Matthew 4:10: worship the Lord your God and serve Him only. Biblical worship is God-centered rather than focused on personalities, objects, or spiritual experiences.
Worship in Spirit and Truth
In John 4:23–24, Jesus says true worshipers worship the Father in spirit and truth. Genuine worship therefore involves sincerity and truth about God rather than empty outward performance.
Worship Through Daily Life
Romans 12:1 calls believers to offer themselves to God as a living sacrifice. This expands worship beyond a weekly gathering into everyday obedience.
Worship Together
Colossians 3:16 describes believers teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs while giving thanks to God. Corporate worship both honors God and strengthens His people.
Keep Christ Central
Christian worship celebrates God’s saving work in Jesus Christ. The cross and resurrection protect worship from becoming merely emotional or ceremonial.
