1. Is Jesus Christ Central?
Look for a church where the biblical gospel—Christ’s death and resurrection and salvation by grace through faith—is clearly proclaimed.
2. Is Scripture Taught Faithfully?
Ask whether preaching and teaching explain the Bible responsibly rather than using isolated verses to support personal ideas.
3. Is Prayer Important?
A praying church demonstrates practical dependence on God.
4. Does the Church Encourage Holiness and Grace?
Biblical churches take sin seriously while also proclaiming forgiveness and transformation through Christ.
5. Is There Genuine Christian Community?
Look for opportunities to know other believers, receive pastoral care, and build relationships across generations.
6. Can You Grow and Serve?
A healthy church helps believers mature and use their gifts rather than remain spectators.
7. Is There Concern for People Outside the Church?
Evangelism, compassion, and service should reflect Christ’s mission.
8. Can You Ask Questions?
Healthy spiritual leadership should not fear sincere biblical questions. Acts 17:11 commends careful examination of teaching.
